Charitable Foundations and Endowments
What will we accomplish for clients?
FiduciaryVest will start at the beginning. We will prepare a thorough assessment of the foundation's annual budgets, charitable purpose and beneficiary(ies), including answers to an extensive checklist of questions that will have an impact on the foundation's investment goals, such as: What is the Foundation's annual spending target (or requirement)? Are the assets perpetual, or will there be additional fund-raising? Are there significant frozen, illiquid, or "untouchable"assets? What percentage of assets is budgeted for administration? How do typical beneficiaries of this foundation spend their grants? Are grants one-time-only, or sometimes multi-year? What is the annual cash flow pattern? What is the background of the Finance Committee and the foundation's staff? What special benefits can foundation/endowment clients expect?First and perhaps most important, FiduciaryVest is an independent investment advisor, registered with and regulated by the SEC. We have no formal or informal brokerage connections and we do not manage investment products. Our sole source of revenue is direct billings to our clients. Hence, our advice is blind to any non-client influences. If needed, FiduciaryVest can assist with a foundation's development of a formal Spending Policy. Using the questionnaire checklist and Spending Policy, we will completely revise the foundation's Investment Policy, so that it specifically covers at least the following topics:
What deliverables does FiduciaryVest provide?
FiduciaryVest can provide full investment advisory services, including pro-active recommendations for modifications, if any are appropriate, to existing investment policy, asset allocation targets, portfolio managers, custodians, etc. In addition, FiduciaryVest can perform all needed services to screen, select and implement additional, or replacement portfolio managers, when and as needed. In addition to special study reports, FiduciaryVest routinely provides quarterly investment market commentary and analysis, along with a comprehensive review and critique of the foundation's recent and long term investment performance and that of each of its portfolio managers. Also included are specific action-recommendations (or recommendations for no action) in numerous key decision making categories, such as possible replacement of an existing portfolio manager, adjustment to long range investment policy targets, marginal short term tactical asset allocation, etc.
